My research field is comparative and international education. Based on my experience of development assistance in low-income countries, my research interests include educational development, international cooperation, teacher education, science education, inter-cultural education, teaching methods, and academic dishonesty.

Major Research Themes
Within the broad field of international human rights, my main research interests include the effectiveness of UN human rights mechanisms, and the UN in general, in ensuring that human rights are protected globally. I have a special focus on Palestine and on Islamophobia in Europe, in particular in the context of the 'Global War on Terror.'  As a pet project, I am also interested in exploring how the Ummar can function as a protector of rights.  I am a lawyer by training but am mindful that law is not a panacea, and welcome perspectives from other disciplines, including political science, post-colonial studies, and others.

I am originally from Canada and am Tsimshian First Nations (Alaska/Northern British Columbia). My research areas include international relations, leadership, and politics. Within that framework I've also worked in NGOs in Africa and written on economic development.
