カリキュラムは国際機関や国際的ＮＧＯで通用する実務能力を意識
「平和・人権システム」の両研究領域の学修、研究内容と国際機関や国際的ＮＧＯ等の活動目的には共通点が多々あり、修了後、これらの国連機関・関係団体に就業して貢献できる能力の育成を念頭に教育課程を編成しています。

カリキュラムについて
全課程、全授業、英語を使用言語として展開
たとえば、開発途上の国や地域において、社会開発に関わる次のような活動を実質的に進めていくための施策を担当する専門的な人材が求められています。
これらの業務を国連機関や関係団体で担い、あるいは研究者として、関連する課題の研究に積極的に関わっていくためには、高度かつ総合的な英語運用力が必要です。修士論文、博士論文の作成にいたるまで、全課程、英語を教育言語として展開する所以です。
また、国内の人材養成にとどまらず、とくに開発途上のアジア諸国における国内人権行政に関わる専門的人材養成や、互いに排他的に当該の社会を統合する上で成立している国際秩序や国際関係のシステムに対して、これを越える平和と人権尊重の実質化を目指す研究･行政･運動における人材養成を期して、全て英語で行うこの課程に、アジアからの留学生を積極的に迎えたいと考えています。

これらの業務を国連機関や関係団体で担い、あるいは研究者として、関連する課題の研究に積極的に関わっていくためには、高度かつ総合的な英語運用力が必要です。修士論文、博士論文の作成にいたるまで、全課程、英語を教育言語として展開する所以です。

インターンシップ、フィールドワークを重視
博士前期課程（Ｍ）、博士後期課程（Ｄ）とも、インターンシップかフィールドワークのいずれかへの参加、単位修得を修了の要件としています。
インターンシップでは、たとえば、途上国等の社会開発に寄与するＮＧＯ等の現場で、現地のスタッフと共に働くことを通して、現場での課題や問題に対する当該組織の取り組みの実際を知り、自らの問題意識を、より明確にすることが可能です。将来、国際機関等に就業した際に求められる「適切なコミュニケーション、チームワーク、リーダーシップ等のいわゆる総合的なマネジメント能力」の向上を図ることも期待できます。
フィールドワークでは、各自の研究課題とも関わる問題について、実際に現地に入り、現地機関の協力も得てフィールドでの調査を行うことを通して、各人の研究課題や問題意識がより深まることを期しています 。

研究のための主な支援
インターンシップ、フィールドワークの費用の半額程度を支援する奨学金の整備
博士前期課程（Ｍ）、博士後期課程（Ｄ）とも、往復旅費、滞在費、海外医療保険費用の総額の1/2の範囲内で学生一人あたり20万円を上限とする支給奨学金を用意して支援します。

Major Research Themes
Within the broad field of international human rights, my main research interests include the effectiveness of UN human rights mechanisms, and the UN in general, in ensuring that human rights are protected globally. I have a special focus on Palestine and on Islamophobia, in particular in the context of the War on Terror. I am a lawyer by training but am mindful that law is not a panacea, and welcome perspectives from other disciplines, including political science, post-colonial studies, and others.
